MPC is Plastics News’ 2004 Processor of the Year
-
Plastics New (PN) announced the 2004 Processor of the Year award winner on March 1, 2005, in Phoenix, Arizona, during its 2005 Executive Forum. The award honors a plastics processor that has displayed excellence in seven areas: financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental record, public service efforts and technological innovation. A committee of PN editorial staffers judges the nominees primarily on their performance for the previous year, though it also considers longer-term performance.
"MPC represents the best of a U.S. family-run manufacturing business," said Robert Grace, editor/associate publisher of PN. "The Brosts and their team have built a successful enterprise based on strong principles, hard work and innovation." The PN MPC award winner story can be accessed at http://www.plasticsnews.com/mpc.
MPC is very proud of this accomplishment. “Our employees are all smart, hard working, and passionate,” says Jim Brost, President of MPC, Inc. Jim’s father and founder of MPC, Jay Brost, commented, “To continually grow and satisfy your customers is a good, simple goal. To do these two things you must do many, many things right.”
PN began its annual Processor of the Year award in 1996. The contest is open to private or public companies and operating divisions engaged in North American plastics processing for at least five years. MPC also made it to the finalists’ circle in 2002. As the 2004 award winner, MPC will be profiled in the March 7, 2005, issue of PN.
MPC is a leading automotive original equipment manufacturer of molded and extruded thermoplastic components and assemblies for the major manufacturers. The Company was founded in 1972 when Jay Brost patented one of the first plastic check valves for automotive engines – and the Company has been an innovator ever since. PN noted that MPC has developed several other groundbreaking products, including a PCV valve and a quick-connect system for vacuum lines. Further, MPC was the first to bring suction blow molding technology to North America. With this technology MPC makes air ducts, fill pipes, and other complex tubular shapes.
MPC has also diversified into medical, recreational, commercial and consumer products. Headquartered in Walworth, Wisconsin, the Company had sales of $167 million in 2004, and has consistently realized a double-digit annual growth rate for more than 10 years. MPC is a privately held company with over 1,600 employees. Sales offices are located in Southfield, Michigan, and Walworth, Wisconsin. Manufacturing plants are located in Wisconsin and Mexico.
